| Charak convenes interaction meet at GCW, Gandhi Ngr | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 28 Minister for Higher Education Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak today convened an interactive session in the auditorium of Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar here this afternoon. Director Colleges Mr. N. D. Wani, Principal Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu Prof. Nalini Kohli, HoD Home Science Prof. Hammlay Aggarwal, faculty members and staff members were also present in the session. Interacting with the faculty and non-teaching members, Mr. Charak said that teachers play a pivotal role in shaping a better future of the students in the society. He asked the teacher fraternity to impart quality education in their respective institutions so that the students could meet all future challenges. The Minister said that Azad-led government is providing sufficient funds to enhance existing infrastructural facilities in old and newly established colleges across the state. He said that the government has revolutionized every development sector particularly education by initiating a number of reformatives measures Referring to the academic calendar for 2008-09, the Minister asked the authorities to strictly adhere to its instructions for the convenience of the students. During the interaction, the faculty members and staff members projected their problems before the Minister including provision of funds for maintenance of college rooms, libraries, laboratories, lawns, toilets etc, Urdu, Sanskrit, Dogri, education, history and environmental science streams in newly established colleges, study rooms for faculty members, adequate lecturers posted in college, sports stadium at GCW, Gandhi Nagar, additional accommodation for Education, Chemistry and Home Science departments, confirmation of services of probationers, filling up of vacant vacuums, introduction of moral value classes in colleges and extension of working hours in colleges. Mr. Charak assured them their problems would be looked into at the earliest. Earlier, the Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of 6.5 kilometer long Bari-Brahamna-Bishnah road which would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 6.5 crore. He asked the ERA authorities to complete it before June 30, 2008 so that people do not face any inconvenience during rainy season. |
