JKKC deputation calls on Janak

A deputation of Jammu & Kashmir Kissan Council JKKC, Jammu under the Chairmanship of its Chairman, Mr Rajesh Gupta today called on Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr Janak Raj Gupta.
Representatives of various Kissan Organizations apprised the Advisor about their problems in the field of agriculture including compensation to farmers for the loss caused due to recent strike of vegetable/ fruits wholesalers, retailers, completion of desilting of canals, opening of procurement centre for paddy and wheat, promotion of strawberry nurseries, issuance of Kissan Credit Cards, issuance of land records to every farmers, provision of quality seeds and fertilizers at subsidized rates, provision of high-tech infrastructure such as drip irrigation, poli house, sprinkling system , adequate supply of pesticides etc,
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gupta said that farmer is the backbone of economy of the nation and to further boost agriculture production new hybrid varieties needs to beencouraged. He said that Chief Minister is taking keen interest to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the farmers and for this purpose he has taken number of initiatives like Roshni scheme. He said that Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing is establishing new mandies at local level to benefit the farmers. He underlined the need to strengthen cooperatives and added that the defunct societies should be revived and made functional for farmer’s benefit.
He asked the concerned authorities to issue Kisasn Credit Cards to the farmers so that they could avail loan facilities.
He assured the deputation that their genuine demands and problems would be redressed soon on priority basis. Regarding construction of Kissan Bhawan, Mr Gupta said that he will take up the matter with the concerned soon. Among others, ADC Jammu, Mr I.A Zargar, Director Horticulture, Director Agriculture, Deputy Director Central Floriculture, AEE Irrigation & Flood Control, Assistant Director Horticulture and Marketing, Chief Horticulture Officer and other senior officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
