| Cong, PDP misusing powers: Harsh | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 29 Lashing out at the Congress-PDP coalition, Harsh Dev Singh, JKNPP legislator today has alleged that the Congress and the PDP in utter abuse of powers were violating all prevalent norms and laws and were resorting to undue influence, dishonest and dissolute measures to influence the voters just before the assembly elections in the State. Speaking in a press conference here today, Harsh Dev Singh said that the government is misusing the public exchequer and misappropriating the government funds with an eye on the coming elections. “As the election is round the corner, the construction works and other public utility works including establishment of health centers, opening of new colleges and upgradation of schools are being done not on the basis of prescribed norms and the stipulated criteria but on the whims and fancies of rulers and on considerations of political expediency”, he alleged. Singh further alleged that failing to deliver goods on the ground forcing coalition to resort undue measures to influence voter on the eve of assembly election in the state. “The Congress - PDP Government is resorting to large scale appointments through backdoor in selected areas and of selected people on pick and choose basis which totally on political considerations”, he said. Citing an example, the Panthers Party legislature, he informed that on 5th May 2008, a state helicopter carrying the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Inspector General of Police Jammu alongwith subordinate officers landed at various places/villages as per the directions of the Chief Minister and made recruitments of more than 100 constables from the said villages in utter violation of prescribed norms and recruitment rules applicable in the state. He said for the any selection process there is norm of set procedure but on what bases recruitment made clear the political considerations of the Government. “They announcing the recruitment of candidates in civil departments under a newly coined scheme by the government called “Fast Track System of recruitment”; a system unknown in jurisprudence for blue eyed officers and favourites”, he alleged. Continuing his outburst against the State Government, Singh said that all the development works under the Central sponsored schemes like NREGA, PMGSY etc are being allotted to blue-eyed and favourities of those who is in power. Similarly, in allotment of colleges, this state government favours their favourities, he added. Harsh Dev Singh also alleged large number of political workers who are neither MLAs nor MLCs are being given the status of Ministers in violation of the constitutional provisions and utter misuse of public exchequer. He further said that JKNPP is going to approach Election Commission of India and challenge this illegality and violation of norms by the state government and demanded action against such corrupt practice which requires to be taken cognizance by the Election Commission. |
