| Councilors seek removal of JMC commissioner | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 29 In a major development, 45 elected representatives of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) - irrespective of party affiliation - have urged the State Government to recall newly appointed JMC Commissioner. In a letter written to the state government, here on Thursday, the councilors demanded that the JMC commissioner Jeet Lal Gupta be immediately recalled for his alleged misbehavior with one of their colleague. Sources said that an urgent meeting of all the Corporators of JMC was held today at JMC Conference Hall in which it was unanimously resolved to write a letter to State Government for recalling Commissioner JMC Jeet Lal Gupta who allegedly misbehaved with a senior BJP Corporators from ward number 55 Balwant Singh Thakur in his office chamber on Wednesday. Sharply reacting to 'disrespect' shown by the Commissioner, the Corporators accused Commissioner of having "dictorial behaviour" and resolved to write a letter to Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department to transfer Jeet Lal Gupta from JMC within 48 hours. The Corporators irrespective of party affiliations alleged that the Commissioner has shown disrespect to an elected member of the Corporation and has violated Jammu Municipal Corporation Act on several occasion. "We have written the letter to the minister, soon after the meeting, demanding removal of the commissioner", one of the councilor told NAK. He said that the councilors were waiting for the government response so as to chalk out the future strategy. |
