| Charak inaugurates boys hostel at Commerce College | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 29 Minister for Higher Education Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak today inaugurated a 4-storied 125-bedded boys Hostel at Govt. S P M R College of Commerce, completed at a cost of Rs. 256.11 lakh. Managing Director JKPCC Mr. Dalip Thusu, Director Colleges Mr. N. D Wani, Principal Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu Mr. Sham Lal Gupta, Principal Govt. Degree College, Bishnah Prof. Ajeet Angral, other Principals, faculty members and non-teaching staff of different colleges of Jammu region were present on the occasion. Stating that the hostel would be immensely beneficial to the students hailing from far off areas of Jammu region in pursuit of higher education, Mr Charak also underlined the need of providing a congenial educational environment within the hostel so that students can focus on their studies. He said that government is aware of the problems which students from far-flung districts like Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi and Bhadarwah have to face for acquiring higher education adding that several new degree colleges and university campuses have been opened through out state to reach out quality education to their doorstep. He said that this step would also ease the rush of students to district headquarters. Mr Charak said that hostels serve as a breeding place for the future scientists, politicians and academicians as it is here amalgamation of new and creative ideas take place to give shape to new ideologies and thinking. He said that possibilities should also be explored in developing allied infrastructure like libraries study and computer cells sports gymn etc within the hostel so that the time of students within the hostel is utilized in a constructive manner. He said that this would also channelize their energy in a positive direction transforming them into better future citizens of nation. The 125 bedded hostel has additional facilities of a dining hall, kitchen, recreation hall, twelve toilet blocks, three warden room, office, 12 rooms on each floor and an attendant room. |
