| Gharu tours Transport Nagar, Narwal, calls for repair of roads | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 29 To assess the development needs and availability of infrastructural facilities in the suburban areas of Jammu, the Minister of State for R&B Ch Gharu Ram today conducted an extensive tour of Transport Nagar and Narwal. The Minister found that the lanes, drains and roads of transport yard were in dilapidated condition with several pot holes left open. He asked the concerned engineers to under take repair and renovation works at the earliest. He also instructed Municipal authority to keep a waste container in the yard for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation the area. The Minister was informed that pre-fixing work of transport yard roads was going on while the work of black topping of these roads will be completed before July. They said the black topping of main road upto SOS school has been completed. Mr Gharu Ram said that the poor roads of the area are a continuous threat as they can lead to accidents and loss of precious lives. He called for immediate action in order to plug the holes and smoothen the roads. He also directed the JMC authorities to complete the construction of Sulabh toilet in the area within 20 days time period. Apart from this, the Minister also visited railway station road and saw open land in front of Shri Mata Vaishno Dham. He instructed the JDA authorities to give a part of this land for developing a parking lot for autos and taxi stand. The Minister said that Jammu being an important haltage for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath Yatries, the government is laying great emphasis on the beautification of the city. He also asked the people to extend their whole hearted cooperation in transforming this city of temples into one of the most beautiful cities of the country so that the pilgrims visiting the city carry a good impression. Among others, Ex-MLA Ch Pyara Singh, SE JDA, Executive Engineers and senior officers of various departments accompanied by the Minister. |
