| SAD supports Gujjars’ stir | | | Early Times Reporter

Taking stock of the ongoing agitation of Gujjars of Rajasthan, which has spread to other states in the country, seeking schedule tribe category, a meeting of the executive body of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) was held today under the chairmanship of J&K based national vice president J S Mangal.
The SAD members unanimously resolved to support the stir of the Gujjars. As per a press release, SAD (A) J&K felt that cult of reservation and categorization was against the health and homogeneity of the country but since rulers of the country have set in motion the quota system in the republic, the party therefore support reservation for the Gujjars in Rajasthan.
The release said that SAD (A) appeals to the agitating Gujjars not to allow the element of violence to creep into the agitation and ensure that no los to the public property is caused at any cost.
Those who attended the meeting included Bhai Gurdev Singh, Bhai Ram Singh, S.Ranjit Singh ji, and others, the release added. |
