| Govt is not serious on Panchayat elections: Billawaria | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 29 State president of All India Panchayats Vikas Sangathan (AIPVS) Baldev Singh Billawaria expressed his anguish over the state government alleging that it has not implemented Panchayati Raj system in the state. Addressing a press conference here today, Billawaria said in case of Panchayats, the government is playing politics as elections for Panchayats are not fought on party basis, and villagers suffer a lot due to non existence of panchayat system. He said MLAs of the respective Panchayat halqas are main hurdles in strengthening the Panchayats because they usually interfere in the matters of Panchayats unnecessarily and they take Panchayats as danger to their existence and never take any effort for betterment of Panchayats. The Panches and Sarpanches are not being paid even a single penny as their remunerations so far on the other hand their counterparts elected as corporators in municipalities are paid Rs. 6000 per month along with mobile and office maintenance allowances separately. Sarpanch Dev Raj, Sarpanch Sat Pal, Sarpanch Parminder Singh, Balwant Singh, Raja Singh, Saudagar Singh and others were present in the press conference. |
