Jammu | May 29
In order to revamp the existing junior age group tournaments, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced under-16 age group competition by doing away with existing age categories of under-15 and under-17.
To implement the change in the junior cricket tournaments, the BCCI Chief Administrative Officer, Prof R S Shetty has informed all the affiliated state units of the Board accordingly.
“The decision which has been taken in the working committee meeting of the Board on March 26 has now proposed only three age categories of under-16, under-19 and under-22 in place of earlier four age group tournaments,” joint secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Jammu wing, Sunit Sharma told reporters.
Accordingly, the BCCI has directed all the state units to prepare their teams accordingly as the decision will be implemented from the season 2008-2009.
“In J&K we cannot go against the wishes and decisions of the BCCI, so we have already initiated the process to educate the affiliated clubs to prepare the boys accordingly,” said Sunit.
