| Panthers’ Party office flooded with ticket seekers | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 30 After deciding to contest all the 37 seats in the Jammu region during the ensuing Assembly poll the Panthers Party has already selected its candidates for 20 constituencies. According to a senior Panthers Party Leader,Harsh Dev Singh,"we have received applications from more then six candidates from each of the remaing 17 constituencies in the Jammu region, which inludes the seats of Reasi,R.Pora,Domana.We are processing these applications and those with a potential for securing a fair percentage of votes would be given the party mandate." Referring to the 2002 elections he said that "we could not get suitable candidates who could be fielded as party nominees for various constituencies and the result was that we had to remain content with contesting 36 seats out of which four candidate had won." Harsh Dev Singh said that "this time we are flooded with applicants keen to get Panthers mandate for fighting the election."He said this had encouraged "us and we have decided to contest more than 10 seats in the Kashmir valley." In reply to a question he said "this time we do not have any dearth of candidates from the Kashmir valley.candidates have applied for party ticket and others have travelled to Jammu for seeking the mandate." Asked the reason for it Harsh Dev claimed that political activists and people had become disenchanted with the Congress, the PDP and the National Conference owing to their poor performance when they were in power. He also felt that strong undercurrents against these parties could prove helpful to the Panthers Party. |
