| Rainawari to get hospital named after first PM | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 31 Union Health Secretary, Naresh Dayal alongwith Secretary Health and Medical Education K.B. Jandial and Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad visited the Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital (JLNMH) Rainawari today and assessed pace of work on the under construction 300 bed hospital estimated to cost Rs. 42.55 crore. Coming up under National Health Rural Mission Programme, the hospital is expected to be completed by next May with all diagnostic facilities. Work on this hospital is being carried out in double shift by the Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC). The Union Secretary went round various wards and units of the JLNM hospital and reviewed functioning of these units. He inspected gynae and other wards and enquired from the patients about the medicare facilities being made available to them by the hospital authorities. He also inspected blood bank, USG, X-Ray, dental, ophthalmic, ENT and other sections along with officers and expressed satisfaction over the functioning and level of efficiency of these units. He was told that the round-the-clock health care facilities are being provided to the people by this hospital and is 2nd after SMHS hospital to cater to the medicare needs of people in Srinagar city. He was happy with the sanitary conditions and hygiene maintained in and around the hospital complex. Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Siraj-ud-Din was also present. Earlier, Mr. Naresh alongwith Secretary Health and Director Health Services inspected the test piling of the upgradation of SMHS hospital to AIMS level at Sheeran Bagh Srinagar involving an expenditure of Rs. 120 crore. Work on the project coming up under Pradan Mantri Savistia Surakasha Yojna was started in April this year and is expected to be completed by end of 2010. |
