DC Jammu reviews arrangements for Krishan Janmashtami, Shoba Yatra

JAMMU AUGUST 17: Deputy Commissioner, Sushma Chauhan, today reviewed arrangements for Shri Krishan Janmashtami and Shoba Yatra at a meeting.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Rishpal Singh, SDM Jammu North, Satish Sharma, SDM South, Shrikant Susi and senior officers of the concerned departments besides representatives of various religious organizations and trusts including Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Dharmarth Trust, Durga Mandir and Lakshmi Narayan Mandir.
It was informed in the meeting that Jhankies will be taken out in various areas of Jammu including Old City, Gandhi Nagar and New Plot. The main Jhanki will be taken out from Gita Bhawan to Raghunath temple where special prayers and pooja will be performed. Afterwards, the Jhanki will pass via Vir Marg, Shahidi Chowk, Kanak Mandi, Jain Bazar, Chowk Chabutra, Purani Mandi, Raj Tilak Road and culminate at Raghunath temple. Besides, similar Jhankis will also be taken out at Ghandi Nagar and New Plot.
The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements regarding security, sanitation, medical facilities, drinking water and other basic amenities for smooth and successful conduct of the festival.
DC directed the JMC to ensure cleanliness in and around the temples and enroute the procession path. She asked the PDD authorities to replace damaged street lights with new street lights besides taking care of the loose electricity wires. The PHE authorities were directed to ensure that water tanks are provided at identified locations.
The DC further directed the R&B authorities to repair the dilapidated roads, if any, from where the procession would take place. Fire and Emergency authorities were directed to remain prepared to deal with any eventuality. She also directed the CMO Jammu to deploy an ambulance and medical staff with first aid facility during the processions.
The DC also directed the concerned officers to remove all encroachments along the route of Shobha Yatra. The representatives of religious organizations and trusts also submitted the details of the areas where the services of district administration and police are required.
