| HC allows petitioner to join course | | Asst Surgeon denied admission in MD | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 31 Petitioner who was working as Assistant Surgeon has resigned from the service for the admission in the MD Course, Justice Nirmal Singh of J&K High Court Jammu wing today in a petition issued the notice to respondents and in the meanwhile directed the respondents to allow the petitioner to join the MD Medicines course, provided he is the meritorious candidate in the open category. This provisional admission is however, subject to the risk and cost of the petitioner and also subject to objections to be filed by the other side. This court direction was issued in a petition filed by Dr. Pawan Puneet Malhotra in which Adv KS Johal appeared for the petitioner and submitted that petitioner who was working as Assistant Surgeon has applied for admission to post-graduate course in Medicine stream in Govt Medical College Jammu, test which was conducted by the BOPEE. It is further stated that for becoming eligible to the said course the requirement is that an in-service candidate should have two years rural service. He submitted that as the petitioner was an in-service candidate and did not possesses the said eligibility, the petitioner sought admission in open merit category, and did not lay his claim as an in-service candidate. The petitioner had submitted his resignation on May 29, 2008, which is under consideration by the Authority concerned. Court in view of the submissions made by the petitioner issued notice to respondents and also directed. |
