| Journalists hold interactive session | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 31 The new comers to the field of journalism and some young scribes today held an interactive session with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey at JU auditorium. Interacting with the media persons, the Divisional Commissioner appreciated the role being played by media in the State especially under adverse circumstances. He, however, asked them to be more pro-active and vigilant for comprehensive reporting of the events. He advised them not always to rely on few officials for information but, utilize their own skills for extracting true and factual news. Citing example of Priyadarshani Mattoo episode at Delhi, he highlighted how media crusade led to the punishment to guilty and justice to her family. He further said them to think from different angles on contemporary issues to help masses to understand the root cause and also to devise strategies and planning to overcome the situations. During the session, the journalists asked several questions to Mr. Pandey on contemporary issues besides, some of the personal ones also. The Divisional Commissioner also shared some lighter moments with the journalists. Earlier, in the beginning of the session a two-minute silence was observed in the memory of Ashok Sodhi, photo journalist of Daily Excelsior, who got killed by militants while performing official duties during an encounter. |
