More than five crore for rehabilitation in Doda

State Power Development Corporation has unmarked Rs 580.50 lakh for the rehabilitation of people living in Pul Doda area of mountainous Doda district the process of which was in full swing.
This was disclosed in a meeting of senior officers from district administration under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Doda Khursheed Ahmed Bhatt. Pul Doda will be completely submerged by the end of this year in view of the completion of work on Baghlihar Hydro Electric Power Project being constructed on river Chenab.
The meeting discussed the rehabilitation process in detail and it was felt by the DDC that the officials shall gear up for the process so that the people can be rehabilitation at the earliest and public utilities can be provided in the new township.
The government has already sanctioned the amount of Rs 5.8 crores and asked the PDC to release the amount so that the people can be compensated at the earliest.
Out of the sanctioned amount, Rs 135 lakh are to be spend for the acquisition of land measuring 134 K-18 M, Rs 15.50 lakh for payment to 62 tenant shopkeepers (Rs 25000 each), Rs 200 lakh for construction fapporach roads, lanes, drains, leveling of plots and construction of civic amenities, Rs 20 lakh for construction of Recretion Park, Rs 20 lakh for construction of Mini Bus stand and Rs 200 lakh for electricity and drinking water facility.
Addressing the meeting the DDC Khursheed Ahmed Bhat said that the new township coming for the rehabilitation of Pul Doda residents will have all the facilities. He said that the land has already been enmarked for the construction of religious institutions, health institutions, shops, anganwadi centers and other dewelling units.
He asked the officials to visit personally on the construction sites so as to monitor the ongoing work.
The DDC was informed that the rehabilitation process was under full swing and the compensation process to the people was already taken up. He was further informed that one Anganwadi center, thee hospitals, toilet facilities through Sulabh International, Ayurvedic Dispensary, Police post, food store, sale depot of ration and K Oil, Patwar Khanas, community hall and booking office/passenger sheds are to be constructed at the new township before the people can be shifted from Pul Doda.
