| Seminar on heritage protection held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 1 Jammu Heritage Forum a non-political NGO organized a seminar on protection of heritage of Jammu region here today. S S Anand Lehar Sr. Advocate of Supreme Court and renowned Urdu writer and the patron of the forum presided over the function while Prof. Shiv Nirmohi was the chief guest and N.D. Jamwal was the special invitee, while Dr. Khajuria (advocate) and S. Daljit Saini (advocate) were the guest of honor on this occasion. The renowned writer and convener of the forum K.K. Shakir welcomed the audiences and explained in detail the aims and objectives of the forum with the hope that valuable suggestions will come from the speakers during the seminar which will provide guidelines to the forum for the preservation of the heritage. While expressing his views on cultural heritage of Jammu, noted Dogri scholar N.D. Jamwal said that we are facing a great threat and by signs of our heritage are being demolished under a planned way. No proper care is being paid for the preservation of such monuments which are closely connected with our past. While S.S.Anand Lehar in his presidential address stressed upon the need to protect the cultural heritage of Jammu region. There are so many religious places, forts, palaces, tanks, wells, paintings and manuscripts connected with the history and the ways of living of our ancestors which require especially the young generation so that they may understand the importance of their rich cultural heritage. Others who expressed their views in the seminar include Smt. Raj Kumari Sehgal, Mangal Dass Dogra, Sharda Sawhnay, Shakuntla Sharma, Vijay Sharma (advocate) and Romesh Rashi etc. |
