| ‘PoK should allow KP’s to visit Sharda temple’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 1 J&K Democratic Forum has urged upon the Pakistan occupied Kashmir Government (PoK) to allow Kashmiri Pandits to visit holy shrine of ‘Sharda Devi’ and to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Goddess ‘Saraswati’ which falls on June, 11 this year. As per a press release, President of the forum, Bhushan Bazaz has written to Prime Minister of PoK, Sardar Atiq Khan in this regard and has urged upon him that this move will go a long way to ensure lasting peace in the region beside normalization of relations between the two countries. Release further added that PoK Govt had earlier allocated Rs. one million for the renovation of the Sharda temple. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati (the goddess of learning) and located in the Kishenganga valley just across the line of control in a small village called Sharda at the confluence of river Kishenganga and River Jhelum. The Kashmiri Pandits have long been demanding permission to visit POK to undertake annual pilgrimage of Sharda temple, which is about 150 Km. from Muzaffarabad. |
