| National Chess Tourney begins at Udhampur | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 1 Around 130 players from different states of the country are taking part in the All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament which was declared open by the Member Parliament, Lal Singh here this afternoon. The major highlight of the tournament is participation by two International Masters (IMs), Atanu Lahri of Kolkotta and Himashu Sharma of Haryana. Speaking to the participants, Lal Singh, who is also chief patron of the All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA), complimented the organizers for hosting the mega event of national repute at Udhampur. Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur-Doda range, Alok Puri presided. Among others present were president AJKCA, Atul Gupta and general secretary, Baldev Raj. The tournament is being organized by Rural Development Society Udhampur in collaboration with All J&K Chess Association. |
