| Job festival begins at KU | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 2 Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Riyaz Punjabi today inaugurated a two day mega job festival 2008 , organized by CT group of Institutions—a Punjab-based educational society— in collaboration with Kashmir University in university’s Convocation Complex. The event promises to provide about 1000 jobs to students in some of the leading multi-national companies in India, in telecom, life insurance, banking ,and finance sectors. The Institute chairman, Charanjit Singh was present on the occasion. Prof Riyaz Punjabi VC KU termed the event as historic and said that gone are the times when we used to look at Governments for jobs but today the private sector is coming up as an alternative. Population explosion, globalization and liberal economy asks for looking at private sector as an alternative for better job avenues. Noted management expert, Prof S Mufeed asked the students to weigh the companies on their merit and not jump to conclusions while opting for jobs . “Take time and see the companies on their merit before opting for jobs “ He advised the students present on the occasion . Manbir Sing managing Director CT group said the Kashmiri students are as talented as their counterparts in other states and we want them to be placed in the companies that are in the need of talented and skillful youth,” Prof Syed Zafar Director CT group of institutions said “our aim of holding the event is to provide employment opportunities to the educated and skilled youth of the valley both in and outside the state. Manhar Arora, director, Corporate Relations and Placements, of the Institute, said. The festival, is open to graduates and post-graduates in different streams including MBA, MCA, B Tech, BBA, BCA and other polytechnic diploma holders. |
