| VHP terms ‘fee for darshan’ as jazia | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 2 State unit of VHP today termed the fee levied by shrine board for VIP darshans at holy cave shrine of Vaisno Devi as jazia (tax) on Hindus. Addressing a meeting of the VHP activists of the region, its state president Rama Kant Dubey said that the shrine board has reminded the days of Mughal period when they had levied jazia on the Hindus. He added that the authorities were on one side providing huge subsidies to the Haj pilgrims and on the other hand they have imposed huge taxes on Hindus willing to seek darshan of the Mata. Dubey also threatened that in case the board authorities fail to roll back its order on fee for darshan, the VHP would be compelled to launch a nation-wide intensified stir. Meanwhile, a protest demonstration was staged by Shiv Sena Jammu Kashmir, in which large number of sena activists participated. Speaking on the occasion, SS president, Ashok Gupta said that it was very unfortunate that SMVDSB a Hindu organization is forcing yatris to pay huge taxes to perform the yatra. Sena activists also burnt the effigy the shrine board. Seeking taking back of the decision, Shiv Sena threatened to launch a stir. |
