| Fake journalist land behind bars | | | Early Times Reporter Kishtwa | June 2 Police today arrested a `fake' journalist who was indulging in blackmailing of some senior government officers in this mountainous town of Jammu region. Official sources revealed that some senior government officers in district administration approached Journalist Association Kishtwar and complained about a person who was posing himself as Sub-Editor of an English Daily and was demanding money from them. The journalist association soon came to action and informed the police about the person. A team of journalist association also visited Dak Bunglow, where the pseudo-journalist was indulging in blackmailing. Identified as Arif Malik son of Ghulam Muhammad Malik of Kishtwar the accused was found in possession of two fake identity cards of an English Daily and a local cable TV. Malik was handed over to local police, which has registered a case in this regard. However, sources alleged that the police released Malik after arresting him on Sunday. "He again threatened some government officers after he came out of the lockup", a local journalist informed adding, "The matter was brought in the notice of DIG Doda-Udhampur HK Lohia who directed the local police to arrest the accused". Police said that preliminary investigation revealed that Malik was carrying fake identity cards and threatened some engineers and government officers to mint money from them. |
