| Water treaty affected economic progress of J&K: Tarigami | | | Early Times Reporter Ramban | June 2 MLA and President CITU, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, while addressing a rally of Chenab Hydro Power Workers Union(CHPPWU) here today said that agreement have reached between project workers and JP Company, which will benefit the workers of the project. Taragami said, agreement provides 6.5 times more than legal retrenchment benefits plus Rs.480 as monthly benefit. Referring to Indus Water Treaty (IWT) Tarigami said that it has adversely affected the economic progress of the State as water of the rivers passing through the State cannot be fully utilized by the State. He urged both India and Pakistan to compensate the losses incurred by the state. He also urged upon the Govt to implement labor laws, and stop police interference in labor issues, release the wages of the workers working in public sector units, handover Dul hasti and Salal Projects to the State beside to start works on newly identified Power projects at Dulpakkal, Sawlakote and Karthai On the occasion, Tarigami highlighted the problems facing the youths of the State and fight against Negative policies. Javed Ahmad Zargar, Sham Prasad Kesar and Om Prakash Senior CITU leaders were among others who addressed the rally. |
