| Ashraf’s demise condoled | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar\Jammu | May 3 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Ms Mehbooba Mufti and party general secretary Nizam-u-Din Bhat have expressed deep shock and grief over the untimely death of Ashraf Sahil. In a massage, Ms Mufti lauded his role in promotion of Urdu language and literature as also his contribution as valley's prominent broadcaster. Bhat while hailing the contribution of Sahil in the field of media and literature has termed him a genius who upheld the journalistic ethics and despite his prolific stature among literary circles would remain down to earth. The PDP president on behalf of her party leadership expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and has prayed for the eternal peace for the departed soul. Meanwhile, The Vijay Suri Foundation, a socio-cultural organisation committed to the cause of art and culture today condoled the sad and untimely demise of noted academician, poet and media-personality Mr. Ashraf Sahil who breathed his last late last evening in Shere-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar. In a meeting of the Foundation held here today under the presidentship of Mrs Poonam Suri,the organisation placed on record the commendable service by Mr Ashraf Sahil for the promotion of art, culture and heritage in enite Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Sahil was one of the pioneers of Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar which he headed for many years in those tumultous years, the meeting observed adding Mr Sahil was a wonderful human being, an able administrator and a producer par excellence. |
