| Forest land transferred to Amarnath Shrine Board | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 3 After the state Government decided to transfer 39.88 hectares of land around Baltal, second base camp for the Amarnath pilgrimage, the Shrine Board, headed by Governor,S.K.Sinha, has decided to set up a temporary camping site for the yatris. It has decided to raise prefabricated huts and toilets for the benefit of the pilgrims. However, official sources said that the Shrine Board has to pay to the Government about Rs.2.31 crores for the land use it has got from the state Government.Though between Pahalgam and the holy cave the state Government has not yet transferred any land to the Board but it has identified areas where the Board could set up prefabricated huts and tented colonies for the pilgrims. The Shrine Board sources denied reports in which some organizations had criticized the Board for planning to install marble idols near the holy cave.They said there was no such plan and the Board has never conceived the idea of either inslalling marble lingam.They said such allegations were simply aimed at tarnishing the image of the Shrine Board which has been doing good work. |
