| Azad advocates job oriented education with stress on human values | | Inaugurates two degree colleges in Kathua district | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 3 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has emphasised on job oriented education that also teaches respect for elders and trains the youth to fight communal, sectarian and regional tendencies. Addressing impressive functions after inaugurating degree colleges at Kathua and Hiranagar today, the Chief Minister said that education should empower youth and imbibe in them virtues of humanity and the spirit to fight against the evils confronting the society today. He said the emphasis laid by his government on the expansion of education has resulted into the higher education reaching to the doorsteps of the people even in the remote areas of the State. He asked teachers and parents to educate students that securing degrees did not necessarily mean entitlement to government job. He said the youth should think beyond the saturated government job sector and opt for subjects with maximum employability. Minister for Health & Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Higher Education, Gulchain Singh Charak, Minister of State for Power, Babu Singh, MP, Ch. Lal Singh, legislators, Kanta Andotra, Girdhari Lal Chalotra and Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sudanshu Pandey, Managing Director, JKPCC, Duleep Thusoo, Director NBCC, B. P. Das and Director Colleges, N. D. Wani were present on the occasion. The Chief Minister called for preparing the youth for nation building and asked them to insulate the society against divisive and obscurantist forces whose aim was to divide people on the basis of religion, caste and region. He said a strong and developed nation called for thinking above these narrow confines. He said in the 21st century sectarian, regional and communal considerations had no place and referred to a black Barack Obama taking a lead over white Hillary Clinton in the selection of their party candidate for the top executive post in the world. He said when people understood that intellect and merit was the determining factor for a position or job, all other minor issues would be resolved automatically. The Chief Minister cautioned people against elements who tried to mislead them particularly during election time. He asked them not to be misled by false propaganda and see for themselves how much the government had done for their welfare and betterment. He said he and his colleagues in the government had drawn a blueprint for the development and progress of the State and its people and were actively engaged in implementing the agenda of the people. Ministers, Mangat Ram Sharma, Gulchain Singh Charak, Babu Singh, MP, Ch. Lal Singh and MLA Girdhari Lal Chalotra also addressed the functions and dwelt on the development offensive launched by the Azad-led government in Jammu & Kashmir. |
