| One-run win for Samba district XI in Cricket | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 3 Superb innings of 86-ball 87 by Sandeep Bhattacharya go waste after Samba district XI registered a narrow one-run victory over International Cricket Club (ICC) to advance into the next round of quarterfinals in the Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Cricket Tournament organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Samba District XI set a target of 256 runs losing all their wickets in the allotted 40 overs, which, in reply, ICC could not chase and exhausted their quota one short of their target at 255. Vikram Singh was top scorer from Samba with 71-ball 61 runs including six hits to the fence. Lucky made unbeaten 38-ball 38 runs while Ram Prasad 35 (off 28 balls, 6x4) and Daljeet Singh (32) were other main scorers. Subham was most successful bowler from ICC with four for 45 in eight overs while Dilpreet and Nitish shared a piece each. Batting second, ICC made a good start and well proceeding towards their target but loss of wickets in the middle of the innings slowed down the run rate. ICC completed the allotted 40 overs for 255 runs with one wicket in hand. Sandeep, who made 86-ball 87 runs, hit 13 boundries. Akash played fire brand innings of 41 (off 26 balls, 1x6, 5x4) and Shivam contributed 43 runs. From Samba District XI, Radhey Sham took three wickets, followed by Jyoti and Arun, who shared two each.
