| Vohra to replace Sinha | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 3 The name of former Cabinet Secretary and Central government’s chief interlocutor on Kashmir, Narendra Nath Vohra has been reportedly finalized to take over as next Governor of Jammu and Kashmir replacing Lt Gen SK Sinha whose term of five years expires tomorrow. Highly places sources told EARLY TIMES that the Union Government has finalized the name of Vohra for the gubernatorial post in Jammu and Kashmir and the same has been forwarded to the President of India for issuing the formal communiqué. This was however not clear as when Vohra takes over at the Srinagar Raj Bhawan. Sources said that it may take the new incumbent few days to take over as new Executive head of Jammu and Kashmir. Gen Sinha’s term illustrious expires tomorrow. He had taken over as Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on June 4, 2003. Gen Sinha, sources said, will be leaving Raj Bhawan only when his successor arrives and formally takes over. This is a constitutional requirement that the state can not be left without Governor (the constitutional head) even for a small while. |
