| Floodwater enters village as irrigation canal caves in | | School among 10 structures damaged, cattle heads washed away | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 4 At least ten structures including a school building collapsed and over a dozen cattle were washed away in a far off Village Khud Hanjipora of south Kashmir Kulgam by floods caused due to damage of irrigation canal following heavy rain fall in the areas. Police sources said that over twelve Sheep died while ten structures and a school building were damaged in flash flood in village Khud in Kulgam. The affected families were shifted to safer places. They said that incessant rains experienced in the area damaged walls of irrigation canal of Nallah Veshaw near village Khud Hanjipora, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station, Damhal Hanjipora in Kulgam. The floodwater entered the village causing heavy damage to three residential houses and partial damage to six houses, Govt Primary School building besides some cowsheds. Twelve sheep of Mohammad Maqbool also died in the floodwater. The effected families were shifted to safer places. Areas of Watoo, Check Watoo, Aharbal and Tangmarg also witnessed heavy hailstorm. |
