| BJYM protests against 'money for Darshan' | | | Erly Times Reporter Jammu | June 4 Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists today held a massive protest demonstration outside Raj Bhawan to register their protest against charging of money for priority Darshan at Mata Vaishnoo Devi Shrine. Activists who were shouting anti Shrine Board slogans also burnt its effigy to protest what they call commercialization of faith. BJYM president Balwan Singh said the decision of the SMVDSB has hurt the religious sentiments of crores of Hindus across the world. Describing the decision as an attempt to mark a line between rich and poor Hindus he said such a scheme was not acceptable to their party. The Board headed by Jammu and Kashmir Governor S K Sinha has recently introduced a new scheme for special-priority darshan at the cave shrine against payment. The 'atka darshan' process started midnight Saturday, offers special-priority tickets under different categories on the model of Tirupati shrine, the official said. Many in the community have raised eyebrows over the introduction of the new scheme, describing it as 'commercialization' of the faith. |
