| Lecture on ‘Feminism’ held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 4 The Centre for Women’s studies (CWS) organized the lecture on – ‘Feminism and its implications on contemporary society’. HoD PG Department of English, Prof. Deepshikha Kotwal was the key speakers on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Deepshikha said that feminism is a way of life. Feminism is one of the strongest movements in the world like movements for civil rights and against Vietnam War. Women have put up a long fight for their rights and dignity but the final assault remains she added. She further stated that women of present generation are enjoying maximum freedom but the world still belongs to men and power rests wit them only. Director CWS, Poonam Dhawan in her presidential address sated that its is very important to give the women space which is due to her and for that women need to standup and take responsibility of asking for it. She further stated that the objective of the lecture was consciousness raising and said that CWS is established to create concern about women’s issues and build an enabling environment. The lecture was followed by an interaction in which Dr PS Pathania, Dean Student’s welfare, Prof. NK Tripathi-President JUTA , Prof. Jasbir Singh, Prof. Abha Chaudhary, Dr Manju Gupta and Dr. Anupama Vohra. The program was coordinated by Vibhuti Ubbott and vote of thanks was given by Shaveta Sharma. |
