| NC SHOULD DO SOME SOUL SEARCHING: BJP | | | Jammu,August 31 : President of the state BJP Dr Nirmal Singh on Thursday responded to the statement made by the Provincial President of the National Conference that BJP owes an apology to the nation for releasing the dreaded terrorist Masood Azhar in 1999 despite resistance by former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah saying that National conference leadership should do some soul searching before making such statements. Addressing a press conference here at the party headquarters, Dr Nirmal Singh and Prof Hari Om said that a party which thrive on exploiting regional sentiments, communalism and had a dubious past cannot point fingers towards patriotic and Nationalist party like BJP. "Even our tough political opponents would find it difficult to digest that BJP would ever stoop so low and compromise National interest",both the leaders said. Nirmal Singh said motivation behind making such irresponsible statements was nothing but regaining its lost constituency in Kashmir. He said, NC has also joined the rat race in parroting the agenda of the separatist groups in Kashmir like other political formations ".It seems they were in deep slumber and are despeately trying to find foothold in political arena in Kashmir by indulging in BJP bashing. What they were doing when they were in power along with NDA. NC President Omar Abdullah was Minister of state for External Affairs and kept mum.Why DrFarroq Abdullah not resign and held on to his post? He said, on several occasions National conference leaders were found by police to be involved in extending shelter to dreaded militants and some had even gone to the extent of helping them cross the border.
