| DB seeks information regarding all 18 colleges | | Panthers’ PIL against new colleges | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 4 A Division Bench of J&K High Court Jammu Wing comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice JP Singh today in the stay application in PIL filed by JKNPP, has directed the registry to list again before next available bench on which date, BS Salathia AAG would place on record a comprehensive information with regard to all the 18 Colleges. JKNPP has filed a Public Interest Litigation against opening of Govt Degree Colleges at Dharmari the village of State Minster Aijaz Ahmed Khan (MLA Gool, Arnas) and Kilhotran, the village of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad (MLA Bhaderwah). The court has already issued notice to Chief Minister, State Minister and Ors. In the stay application AAG appearing for the state submitted that he is not in a position to file objections to the instant application on account of paucity of time. However, he placed on record the tentative information with regard to Govt Degree Colleges Dharmari and Kilhotran as the application of the petitioner is seeking interim relief with the regard to those two colleges only. AAG further submitted that concern of as these two colleges are concerned, no doubt the same have been set-up in Govt Schools in their respective villages, but by now admission of about 70 students has already been conducted in Govt Degree College Dharmari and about 143 in Govt Degree college Kilhotran. The expected admission is about 200 or may be more. He further submitted that perhaps the classes have already started. However, he is not in a position to make categorical statement in this regard, the official (Prof Vijay Kotwal Principal GGM Science College Jammu) who was present also to assist AAG is also not aware of this factual position. He wanted to have concrete information in this regard and seeking reasonable time so that he is in a better position to apprise the Court about other colleges as well especially with regard to criteria adopted for establishing those colleges and submitted that he would furnish detailed report with regard to all the 18 colleges which shall include the aforesaid two colleges also. Adv HC Jalmeria appearing for the PIL vehemently opposed the request of AAG for granting time. Upon this DB directed that AAG would place on record comprehensive information with regard to all the 18 colleges. JNF |
