| Panther says no to paid darshan | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 4 The JKNPP has expressed grave concern over the present state of affairs and confusion caused in the aftermath imposition of tax by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine board on pilgrims. In a statement issued here today, general secretary of the party Anita Thakur demanded immediate intervention of the governor who is also chairman of the board and immediate withdrawal of the yatri tax on pilgrims. She demanded that no quarter should be given to political considerations in the religious affairs of people. Meanwhile, JKNPP activists protested against decision of shrine board to introduce paid “darshans” at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi cave through tatkal service for pilgrims, who are claimed to be in hurry to offer pooja. The panthers activists Ashok Bhagat state secretary (young panthers), Shankar Singh Chib, zonal president, Vinod Singh Jamwal, district president, young panthers and Naveen Bali publicity secretary burnt the effigy of the state government authorities, and CEO of the board for imposing tax on pilgrims coming in lacs from every corner of the country. JKNPP said that by introducing paid darshan to facilitate priority darshan for rich and affluent class is against the religious sentiments and tradition of Dogras. They said that Hindu temples and places of worship in J&K are not commercial centers whose objective is to make money. This step of the board is most anti- Hindu and below cultural status of Jammu people. |
