Driver Cleaners Union organizes get-together program

JAMMU, Sept 11: All Jammu and Kashmir Oil Tankers' Drivers and Cleaners Union today organized get-together cum awareness program here at union office near IOC depot at Railway Yard. The get-together program is presided by S. Ranjit Singh Raina, President of the Union and attended by senior functionaries of the organization including S Davinder Singh, General Secretary, S. Harasis Singh, Davinder Singh, Sohan Singh, Surinder Singh, Mohammad Amin Bandh, Bikesh Kumar, Davinder Singh Wazir and several drivers and cleaners. During the event, the union members informed the drivers' and cleaners about new rates of taxes and penalties under motor vehicle act and appealed them to follow all traffic rules on road, however they also expressed serious concern over the recent hike in penalties for traffic violations, trek of 9 percent in tax of all kinds of vehicles.
In his address during the get-together S.Ranjit Singh appealed the union & Jammu and Kashmir government to reconsider their decision of imposing such heavy taxes and penalties in the state and work for bringing awareness about traffic rules. He said for now for over a month, the transport industry in the state is going through a very tough time due to the prevailing situation in the valley and other sensitive areas of Jammu.
