| Inter Panchayat Block level Chess & Carrom open competition kick starts | | |  Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Sept 12: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana today kick-started Inter Panchayat, Block level Chess and Carrom open competition here at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys) Kishtwar.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kishtwar, Jaffer Hussain Sheikh, Principal Girls Higher Sec School Kishtwar, Sarpanches, Panches, officials of DYSSO Kishtwar along with students of different schools and locals were also present on the occasion.
The programme was organised by District Youth Services and Sports Office Kishtwar in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council and the Rural Development Department. During the occasion, DDC played a chess match with one of the national chess player.
Also colourful cultural programme was presented by budding students of KIDZEE Kishtwar and from Cultural Cell Kishtwar.
While Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the main aim of such programmes is to nourish the sports talent among the students/non students from panchayts of district Kishtwar.
He also threw light on "FIT INDIA" campaign and quoted that "if every citizen is fit nation will becomes fit" besides asked all the participants to devote some time for their fitness.
While giving details of the programme, DDC said that the competition is being held in all Panchayats of 10 blocks of district having 8 teams per block wherein students/non-students from every Panchayat are participating in Chess and Carrom competition in category of under 19 and upto 25 (boys/girls).
He added that the winning students will get access to District Level competitions and latter the winning team at the district level will represent the district at state-level competitions.
The inaugural functions were also held at other blocks of the district.
At the end, DYSSO Kishtwar presented a vote of thanks on the occasion. |
