| Court grants bail to Sales Tax Guard, who caught red-handed by taking bribe Rs 2000 and two others at Lakahanpur | | |
Jammu, August31:- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. JR Kotwal today granted bail to Sales Tax Guard Mohd Sharief Khan, who was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 2000/- bribe and Manoj Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar who were transported electric control panel in a vehicle without paying sales tax at Lakahanpur on August 28, 2006 by Lakahanpur police.
In the bail applications filed through Advocates Anil Bargotra, Vishal Kapoor and Satinder Gupta in which they submitted that the petitioners are in police custody since August 28, 2006, while petitioners Manoj Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar in a Wagnor No: DL3CZ-7568, while transporting electric control panel from the Punjab into state at Lakahanpur were arrested by Lakahanpur police.
According to the investigation report, the accused at Lakahanpur entry point of state, The Guard Mohd Sharief, who was posted at the relevant time at entry point Lakahanpur demanded and accepted Rs 2000/- as illegal gratification from Manoj Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar in consideration of allowing them to evade payment of Rs 6000/- as sales tax for the said panels. The vehicle after paid the bribe money left entry point. However, SHO Lakahanpur intercepted the vehicle detected the offence having been committed and arrested all the petitioners and recovered bribe money from guard Mohd Sharief Khan.
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. JR Kotwal clubbed both the applications call for report and objections and after hearing both sides observed that no good ground for refusal of bail to petitioners and all the petitioners are admitted to bail and shall be released on their furnishing personal bond in the amount of Rs 10,000 each and surety bond in the like amount. During the bail they shall not leave the territorial jurisdiction of P/S Lakahanpur without the permission of SHO.
