NC activists in large number supported by the general public shouted slogans against the UPA government and the present state coalition government for their failure to keep check on the prices rise of essential commodities. Addressing the protest dharna, Chander Mohan Sharma District President Jammu Urban said that this unprecedented hike in prices of cooking gas has badly hit the kitchen of the common man and the hike in petrol and diesel will further increase the transportation cost of the essential commodities which will increase the already shoot up prices of the commodities. "The inflation has badly hit the common man and the basis essentialities have became far away from the purchasing capacity of a common man". He said it is very unfortunate that the present dispensation has turned deaf ears towards problems being faced by a common man due to the steep hike in prices of essential commodities. While the ministers of coalition alliance were living luxurious life, the unprecedented price rise has made life of common people miserable, he said. The protest was organized by Rashida Begum, Corporator. Meanwhile, activists of district unit of the BJP, led by its president Rajesh Gupta, today came on roads to lodge protest against the decision of the Congress-led UPA for making steep rise in the prices of petrol, diesel and domestic gas cylinders. The party activists were raising slogans against the union government and burnt the effigy of the Congress-led UPA at Kachi Chawni Chowk. Rajesh Gupta, on this occasion, strongly opposed the recent decision of the Congress-led UPA of hiking the prices of petrol, diesel and domestic gas cylinders. He said the people are already suffering due to the steep rise in the prices of food items and now this decision has made it totally impossible for the survival. He said just four years ago, the Congress, which is the major coalition partner of the UPA, had won the confidence of the people on the slogan-“Congress ka haath, gareeb ke saath”. How unfortunate it is that the same Congress has turned out to be more anti-gareeb. Its hand has now reached to the neck of a common man, thus posing threat to his survival. |
