| SS demands for separate Jammu state | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 5 Seeking an end to the alleged discrimination meted out to the Jammuties for last 60 years, the Shiv Sena (SS) Jammu and Kashmir demanded separate Jammu state during a protest demonstration, here today. The protest after starting from the Rani Park passed through the main bazaars of the old city and finally culminated at City Chowk, where a large number of protestors raised slogans against the Kashmiri leadership alleging them responsible of oppressing Jammuties for last many years. Speaking on the occasion, president SS, Ashok Gupta said that it is only due to the lethargic leadership of the Jammu leaders that the Kashmiri leadership is discriminating against the people of Jammu in every field. He added that according to a recent survey, Jammu region constitute 26,893 Kms where as the Kashmir valley constitutes of only 15980 Kms, more over the Jammu region is generating around 80 per cent of revenue where as the Kashmir regions generates only 20 per cent revenue and is still granted larger pie of funds meant for the development of the various regions of the state. He also urged the centre government to put an end to discrimination and issue an order for the constitution a separate Jammu state. Among others who spoke during the demonstration were Rajeev Bhandari, Pinka, Sanjay Sharma and Rakesh. |
