| NC reacts over Mufti’s remarks | | ‘It is kettle calling pot black’ | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 5 Mufti Sayeed's obsession that National Conference will indulge in corruption after returning to power could be viewed in the light of six years coalition rule in the state. National Conference spokesman taking pity on the short memory power of Mr. Mufti, has said that it is kettle calling pot black and there is nothing left behind for others to make corruption in the state. Mr. Mufti as Chief Minister for three years has brought "Corruption State" tag to J&K and he did not allow Ehtisaab Commission to work in the state. All the Ministers of Mufti Government have rolled in corruption during all the period Mufti supervised the government functioning. Now that the coalition government is at its fag end of power, its 22 ministers, ex-ministers and MLA's are facing charges of corruption before Ehtisaab Commission, State Vigilance Organization and other investigation agencies. During all this period, two ex-ministers of NC government were blamed for having indulged in corruption, but the government having failed to bring anything in black and white had to apologize in both the cases. The spokesman said that contrary to this, there were proved cases of corruption against various PDP and Congress ministers, but for the fear of fall of government, Chief Minister Gh. Nabi Azad hushed up the cases and instead punished Peerzada Syed for his involvement in corruption of lesser importance as compared to his involvement in Panchayat Ghar electrification case. Ridiculing Mufti's charge that NC government had increased the authority of governors, the spokesman has said that it is pity on the party of Mr. Mufti, who has utilized all his energies to empower the governors in the state, more so in the case of Jagmohan, who put the state under governor rule twice with in three years period, where as National Conference has fought several battles against imposing outsiders on the post of governor from time to time. National Conference even at this stage, consider switch over to Sadr-e-Reyasat setup, as panacea for creating to peaceful atmosphere in the state. The spokesman said PDP dichotomy approach in land transfer case to Shrine Board has been exposed. He quoted Gh. Hassan Mir having said that he, as Tourism Minister has acted under the specific instructions of the then Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and had given green signal for helipad in Pahalgam area. Again it was Forest minister Mr. Qazi Afzal who publically confessed of having signed land transfer order in favour of Shrine Board. Mr. Qazi subsequently apologized publically and now Mehbooba Mufti says that Qazi was a small entity in the government. PDP has developed habit of taking credit for all doings of the government, even at the centre stage but to hoodwink people on land transfer case, PDP president eliminates existence of even its own minister. |
