| Gharu stresses to boost female literacy rate | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 5 Minister of State for R &B Mr. Gharu Ram on Thursday exhorted upon student community to avail the opportunities of elementary and higher education being extended to them by the government in developing their faculties to the maximum and evolving into aware and progressive citizens taking the state to new highs. He said that the government by concretizing the infrastructural development programme in the field of education, roads, electricity and water supply has ensured a greater impetus to the transformation of the state into a thriving agronomic and industrially developed state. Speaking after inaugurating newly upgraded Higher Secondary school, Chakrohi, R.S.Pura the minister said that due to the availability of only a High school in the area the dropout rate was found to be high especially amongst girl students due to prevailing fear among their parents in sending them to far off located schools. He said that with the opening of Higher Secondary school would benefit 22 villages and give female literacy rate tremendous boost. Highlighting the path breaking initiatives by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad transforming the education system in the state Mr. Gharu Ram said that the government had opened a primary school at every 1 km and middle school every 2.5 km adding that 40 Degree colleges and university campuses at several far flung areas have steered the state’s educational infrastructure from crutches to vibrancy. Listing the various road projects being implemented in the R.S.Pura subdivision Mr. Gharu Ram stated that apart from laying of pucca roads connecting various far off villages widening work of main roads is also in full swing. He said that proper road network in this ‘Rice Bowl of J&K’ is assumes greater significance due to heavy movement of trucks carrying food grains, fertilizers, seeds etc. besides tractors and army vehicles plying round the clock . Ventilating the genuine grievance of people regarding irregular power supply the minister informed that 5 receiving stations would be set up in the subdivision to augment the power supply. Earlier, the minister announced that government has sent a proposal of construction of bridge over Aike nallah. At the cost of Rs 5 crore to centre for approval. Among others, Zonal Education Officer, Headmasters, senior officers of various departments and Panch and Sarpanchs of the area were also present. |
