| Div Com reviews Mubarak Mandi Conservation works | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 5 Commissioner Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey today convened a meeting of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society Jammu Sub- Committee to review the restoration and sustainable conservation of the historical monument of Mubarak Mandi, here today. While deliberating upon construction of roof over the collapsed portion of old royal court buildings it was decided that corrugated galvanized (CGI) sheets would be used as temporary measure for protecting the standing walls and paintings from the vagaries of weather. For the purpose Rs. 25 lakh would be released. Consensus was also arrived at use of old material lying in Mubarak Mandi Complex as roofing material as well as clearance of mulba from the site. Mr. Pandey asked the concerned officers to immediately prepare a project report on the said work along with cost estimates. The meeting also approved item-wise estimates and works programme and emphasized on prioritizing the works keeping in view the forthcoming rainy season. It was also decided that participation of public and other government and semi-government departments would be sought for better execution of these works. The Divisional Commissioner asked the Archives department to shift the records and library immediately to the vacated court rooms of Session Court so that Archeological Survey of India can start their work. |
