As normal life remained crippled for the 42nd day due to a strike against scrapping of Article 370 and Article 35 A in Kashmir valley, the divisional authority has directed all district administrations to ensure cent per cent attendance of government employees in their respective areas, particularly teachers.
Education was yet another victim of the spontaneous strike as students continued to stay away from school, despite government opening schools up to high schools though teaching and other staff members are attending their duties. Universities and colleges also remained closed since August 5.
Meanwhile, life remained crippled for the 42nd day on Sunday in Kashmir valley, where people are protesting against scrapping of the special status of J&K, besides bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories on August 5.
An official said that in order to restore the culture of good administration in government departments and mitigate the sufferings of the public, the Divisional Commissioner asked all Deputy Commissioners to ensure cent percent attendance of government employees in their departments especially teachers and take action against absentees.
''The DCs should also constitute squads for far-flung areas in their respective districts so that the population residing in hilly areas does not face any inconvenience,'' he said.
Train service in Kashmir valley remained suspended since August 5 for security reasons. The internet service of all Cellular companies, including broadband of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), also remained suspended for the past 42 days badly hitting students, media persons, doctors and other professionals. However, landlines, which were restored last week since August 5, are working in the valley.
