Families of workers of JKPCC unit 6 are facing lot of hardship as the payments of already executed workers have been allegedly withheld by Dy General Manager (DGM) for last four years. A deputation of these workers today said that they were allotted a construction of residential quarters for principal and lecturers of Women’s Polytechnic College, Bemina Srinagar four years back on the direction of Managing Director JKPCC unit 6 and these buildings were completed before the targeted period in all respects and handed over to the department. But, they added, it was very unfortunate that the DGM have not released our payment yet when the bills have already been submitted in his office four years back. These workers have now appealed to the Chief Minister and R&B minister that on humanitarian grounds the grievances be settled. They said that they had taken loans for various financial institutions to complete these buildings before the prescribed time. They said that “If our due payment was not released at the earliest, we shall be forced to stop education of our children’’.
