Symposium on "Ozone Layer Depletion & Climate Change" organized

Kathua, Sept 18: RAVI Eco Club in collaboration with Department of Environmental Sciences, Government Degree College, Kathua organized a symposium on " Ozone Layer Depletion and Climate Change" in the smart classroom of the college. The objective of the event was to sensitize the students about the present state of degrading environment and measures to combat the serious consequences of climate change. Eleven students participated in the event and expressed their views on the topic. The chief guest of the function was Prof. Assa Ram Sharma, Principal of Govt. Degree College, Kathua. He highlighted the importance of saving the environment for our better future. He discussed that our small actions like planting a tree can go a long way in minimizing the Global Warming and Climate Change and insisted on joining hands to save the planet for our better future. Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, HOD, Environmental Science and Convener Eco Club also spoke on the occasion. She elaborated on the Ozone Layer Depletion and Global Warming and discussed that how Ozone Layer is healing by the actions of Scientists and Environmentalists across the Globe. The jury members of the competition were Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Dr. Anupama Arora and Dr. Kehar Singh. Ivleen Kour won the first prize, followe by Atul and Tania who got the 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
