| Dr. Gurmeet’s teachings, Aids prevention released | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 6 J&K state in the first state in the country which has involved different religions for combating HIV/AIDS. After the success of involving imams in a programmed manner for spreading the message of AIDS awareness and now in J&K state this series it has taken the help- of Sikhism for combating HIV/AIDS and now it has come out with a book entitled ’Gurtmat Teachings and AIDS prevention’ which will serve as meaningful tool for prevention of AIDS. The book is specially written for AIDS awareness entitled ‘Gurtmat Teachings and AIDS prevention’ written by Dr. Gurmeet Singh, at a function here today. The book is written simple Punjabi and English languages. Director AIDS control Dr. M.A. Waqni who has done commendable job in combating AIDS in the state of Jammu & Kashmir sensitized the audience about Religion/Morality and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Mrs. Deepika B. Thakur, deputy director (IEC) on the occasion briefed the audience about the signifance of holding the AIDS advocacy seminar and publication of the book ‘Gurtmat Teachings and AIDS prevention’. In the interaction session Dr.Singh, author of the book highlighted the salient features of the book and how religion can play a vital role in combating HIV/AIDS. The prominent among who attended the function included S. Gurmukh Singh former minister, Jasbir Singh director Health services Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Singh, principal Govt. Medical College Jammu, Prof. Devinder Singh former HOD Punjabi Deptt. University of Jammu, S. Sukhdev Singh, president distt. gurudwara prabandhak board and Dr. Arminder Singh. |
