| Reduce local taxes on petroleum products: JSM-P | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 6 The executive members of Jammu State Morcha-Progressive (JSM-P) have expressed great concern over un-precedent commodities which have made life of common citizens very miserable. President of morcha, Prof. Virander Gupta who presided over the meeting said, the recent hike in prices of diesel, petrol and of cooking gas has spread a wave of panic among the public and people are worried that there will be further increase in the inflation rate. He urged upon both state and central government and curb the price hike. Gupta on the occasion urged upon the state and central government to reduce local taxes on petroleum products as already done by congress run state governments in the country and release the public from extra burden. During the meeting members strongly condemns the action of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine board in dividing the public and the devotees on the basis of their financial status all the devotees are equal in her eyes ir-respective whether one is poor or rich, and, the decision of the board is unjustified and uncalled for. JSM (P) demands that decision be immediately with drawn before the resentment of the public reaches its climax. JSM (P) is of the opinion that the shrine board is being managed by the persons who do not belong to Jammu region. These persons at the helm of the affairs of the board do not appreciate the aspirations and sensitivity of the people of the region. As such most of the ports in the Mata Vaishno Devi University are filled by the outsiders and the qualified locals are not preferred. Even in the matter of selection for the courses run by the University there is no preference for the local students and no quota is reserves for them, where as in all other universities and in the respective campuses, operating in the state the local candidates are preferred in the matter of admission and recruitment. The meeting among others was attended by H.B. Khajuria, Abdul Gouf Ganai, Varinder Magotra, Sewa Singh Mankotia, Roshan Gupta, Uday Sharma and Jagdish Sharma. |
