Early Times Reporter Kathua | June 6 Kathua and Rajouri district girls today reached the final of divisional level inter-district volleyball tournament which started today under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Nagrota, near here. In the semi-finals played today, Kathua girls defeated Udhampur in easy straight sets 25-5, 25-13 while Rajouri beat Samba girls 24-26, 25-21, 25-13. Earlier, in a quarterfinal match, Kathua beat Doda 25-17, 25-19. In all, five teams are taking part in girls section. Kathua also made it into the semi-finals of boys section. Other three teams reaching the semi-finals are Doda, Rajouri and Jammu. Eight teams representing as many districts are competing for the top honours in the boys section. Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Deputy Director DYSS, Madan Lal. Assistant Director DYSS, Ashok Kumar presided. Prominent among others present were Jai Raj, Inderjeet Kour, (district officers), Sudesh Chib, nodal officer Samba, Dr Swarn Singh, Jeet Singh, Chanchal Kour and RC Vaid (all PEMs). Today’s matches were officiated by Ashok Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Mohinder Sharma, Naveen Sharma, Raman Gupta, Tarsem Singh and Raghbir Singh. The detailed results: BOYS: Quarterfinals: Kathua bt Udhampur 25-18, 25-18; Doda bt Poonch 25-19, 25-20; Rajouri bt Reasi 25-17, 25-18; Jammu bt Ramban 25-8 25-8.
