| J&K finish eighth in Baseball | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 6 The state baseball team gave an improved performance by finishing eighth in the recently held 18th Sub-junior National Baseball Championship held at Imphal in Manipur. Rashid Abbas of J&K was adjudged most upcoming player of the tournament considering his performance in the championship. In all, 24 states from across the country participated in this championship in both boys and girls sections. “J&K lost in the quarterfinals to Delhi by 8-5 homes. Earlier, in the league round matches, J&K defeated West Bengal 8-5, Himachal Pradesh 11-3, Chandigarh 9-7 and Madhya Pradesh 6-4,” general secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association, Fida Hussain Fidvi told SAN. On return, the team was complimented by the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council for state’s improved performance. The championship was organized by Manipur Baseball Association under the auspices of Amateur Baseball Federation of India. |
