Swachhta hi Sewa: 312 Special Gram Sabhas held in Rajouri Awareness raised against Single Use Plastic

RAJOURI SEPTEMBER 23: In its endeavors to raise awareness against use of Single Use plastic in day to day life, the district administration on Monday held 312 special Gram Sabhas across the district.
These Gram Sabhas were held under the supervision of District Panchayat Officer Rajouri,Dr. Abdul Khabir.
During these events, the villagers were made aware about the ill effects of single use plastic which is badly deteriorating the environment and is the main cause of soil pollution. They were also made aware about the initiative of administration towards ensuring an end to use of Single Use Plastic.
The villagers were further informed that special award would be given to the panchayat which will collect maximum quantity of plastic.
The participating panchayat heads and the villagers assured the officers that they will fulfill their responsibility and will not use plastic material of single use plastic.
Pledges were also taken during the special grams shabas to shun the use of single use plastic in daily life.
Pertinently, in order to motivate and aware the people about the hazards of using plastic and Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign, the district administration has organised a number of activities like rallies, conferences, symposium besides seizure of banned polythene in the district. Besides, the administration distributed Jute and cloth bags among the participants at various places in the district.
