Softlab (PTU) declares admission open, scholarships to under privileged

Softlab Computer Institute, an authorized centre of Punjab Technical University (PTU) Jalandhar, in a major initiative to boost education system has decided to introduce special packages for under privileged students.
Addressing the media persons, Sorabh Gupta, Director Academic Affairs, Softlab Computer Institute today announced the commencement of admission session 2008 offering various career oriented technical courses like B Sc (IT), BBA, BCA, PGDBM, MBA, MCA , M Sc (IT) and their lateral entries .
It is to be mentioned that all these courses are UGC approved which means that the students having passed through PTU or still pursuing would take admission in PTU programs will be eligible for employment and promotions in Central.
Sorabh further highlighting the achievements of Softlab said that Softlab being the biggest centre of PTU is known for its commitment towards the promotion of IT and management in the society. “It has the best faculty members, best infrastructure and best resources for the students for their overall growth”, he added.
He also disclosed that the institute has made special efforts on the placements, as many of the students of Softlab are being placed in banks and MNC’s like HDFC, ICICI, Bajaj Allianz, Vodafone, Aircel and Wipro.
Adding to it, Sourabh stated that now at the admission time, they are focusing on the overall growth and benefits of the students by offering them packages like for the first 100 admissions there would be free personal grooming courses which would help in grooming the new students and prepare them to face and progress in the new environment all together.
Secondly, for the next 100 admissions there would be free internet courses to be offered to the students which will help them in learning new methods of technology and research and moreover, the students who have secured positions and distinctions will be offered with the scholarship.
The very initiative step taken by the Softlab is to offer scholarship up to 50% at the time of admissions for the handicapped students so that they can also compete with the others in this field.
Centre Director, Softlab Computer Institute, Gourav Gupta highlighted the success of the institute and said that Softlab has won various awards from PTU on National level like “Best Study Centre” and “Best Performance in the Past Years” and is continuously bringing laurels for the State and students by the way of performance , human resources and quality management. Softlab has also secured best award for adopting the Best practices for promotion of IT and Management courses.” Later, he presented vote of thanks.
Others who were present on the ocasssion included Harbans Singh, Director Administration, Rajesh Badyal, Senior faculty member and all the staff of the softlab computer institute.
